Council recently passed Resolution 103, a kind of road map for the New Zoning Code approval process. The resolution details the various communication channels that will be used to gather input from the public, and then lays out the following timeline:
- Late October: semi-final draft of the Code is published
- Mid-November: joint “listening sessions” held by City Council and Denver Planning
- December 22 (at the latest): Publication of the final draft of the Code
- January 6, 2010: Planning Board hearing on the final draft
- January 13: final draft is considered by Blueprint Denver committee of City Council
- January 25: first reading by City Council on a bill to adopt the final draft of the Code
- February 22: formal public hearing on the Council bill, followed by final consideration and a vote
Resolution 103 also specifies that, upon final adoption of the New Code by City Council, there will be a four-month transition period during which people can apply for permits, &c., under provisions of the old code.
