From the Colorado Latino Forum – CLF Denver issued the attached letter urging Mayor Hancock to assist with ensuring that Latino candidates are both submitted and considered for the Denver Health CEO Search.
Denver Health is comprised of approximately 65% Latinos. Despite this demographic makeup, there is not ample representation of Latinos in either the executive management team of the hospital, or the middle and senior level management teams.
Adequate representation of Latinos in the management and executive teams of the hospital is important because the quality of care and treatment that the 65% of the hospital’s patients receive will be significantly driven by the level of cultural competency at the hospital.
It is our opinion that a culture of inclusiveness and competency will only start from the top level of the organization, and specifically with the placement of a CEO that is in tune with such issues.
